BSE Free Chondroitin

Chicken Chondroitin Eliminates Your Customer’s Concerns

Chondroitin Sulfate (CS) supplements are traditionally from bovine cartilage (although pork and shark sources are available). For many years, European CS is certified to use US Trachea as its source material.

Even with the precautions taken, bovine sources have come under increasing pressure. Last July, a letter to the New England Journal of Medicine stated that consumers could get BSE from dietary supplements. Last November, the FDA addressed a letter to the "Manufacturers and Importers of Dietary Supplements and Dietary Supplement Ingredients" on BSE. Most recently, Texas cattle had to be quarantined because they had inadvertently been fed meat and bone meal. With so much attention to BSE, many consumers would jump at the opportunity to switch to non-bovine sources.

Although our trade associations are working to inform government agencies and consumers of the safety of dietary supplements, many manufacturers are switching to Chicken Chondroitin now, before their customers stop using CS. Besides being BSE Free, our special Chicken Chondroitin has better bulk density and flow characteristics over other CS.
